Through Decree 482/2026 (Official Gazette, June 23, 2026), the National Executive Branch completely replaced the Annex to Decree 2686/1993, which implements Law 24,196 on Mining Investments. The reform updates a regulatory framework that has been in effect for more than thirty years and seeks to adapt it to the sector’s current production, technological, and administrative conditions.
In general terms, the measure aims to simplify procedures, reduce administrative burdens, strengthen legal certainty, and modernize the mechanisms for promotion, monitoring, and control applicable to mining projects.
