Through Law 27,813 (Official Gazette, June 18, 2026), the National Congress approved the Framework Agreement between the Argentine Republic and the Secretariat of the Basel Convention regarding the operation of the Basel Convention Regional Center for Training and Technology Transfer in South America.
This approval solidifies Argentina’s status as the host country for the Regional Center, whose purpose is to strengthen regional cooperation, develop technical capacities, and promote the environmentally sound management of hazardous and other wastes.
