Through Decree 590/2026 (Official Gazette, July 15, 2026), the National Executive Branch instructed the Energy Secretariat of the Ministry of Economy to announce an International Public Tender to award a hydrocarbon exploration permit in the CAN_200 area, located in the national offshore zone. The call for bids must be issued based on the expression of interest submitted by Challenger Energy Group PLC, although this does not imply that the area will be directly awarded to that company.
