ENRE updates gaseous emissions monitoring guidelines for internal combustion engines in the WEM

Through Resolution 172/2026 (Official Gazette, March 27, 2026), the National Electricity Regulatory Authority (ENRE) approved the “Guidelines for compliance with the frequency of monitoring gaseous emissions from internal combustion engines in commercial service and formats for presenting results,” applicable to entities covered by ENRE Resolution 121/2018. The measure aims to update the environmental control criteria for internal combustion engines installed in thermal power plants that sell energy on the Wholesale Electricity Market (MEM), in response to changes observed in the dispatch of these units and the experience gained since the previous regime took effect.
